“Good afternoon,
It was great to talk with you this afternoon. I am hoping we can coordinate riders for Rolling to Remember and give our Blue Star Mothers a weekend to remember.
If we can get riders to commit for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, those will be the first priority. Those that want to escort for a particular day will get the next choice.
We have 2 hotels in Springfield, VA (Wingate and Comfort Inn) that have given us a group rate of $119 a night for 2 queen beds. There are numerous restaurants in the area and we will have lots of bottled water for everyone.
AGENDA. We will escort the mothers to the Washington National Cathedral for the Blessing of the Bikes on Friday night about 5 pm. Most of us will stay in the area because there is a Candlelight Vigil at 8 about 3 miles from the cathedral at the Vietnam Wall.
Saturday morning, we escort our mothers to Arlington National Cemetery to the Military Women’s Memorial for a presentation from AMVETS. We will be at Arlington about 10 am. The afternoon, we usually take them to Thunder Alley so they can see the vendors and buy patches, shirts, pins, etc.
Sunday morning, we leave the hotel at about 7 and meet at the Giant food parking lot for a departure about 8 to the Pentagon. Since we are escorts , we will be towards the front of the protest ride. At 1155, They have the National Anthem and at 12, we crank up the bikes and start the ride.
There is a Rolling to Remember website: https://www. rollingtoremember.com/
The website outlines some of the events with times and places. Their hotels are a bit more pricey but closer to the Pentagon.
All we ask is that we have a bike with a passenger backrest, footpegs/ floorboards, and a windshield. Virginia has a helmet law so helmets and face shields or glasses are required. We ask our riders to wear red shirts on Friday (RED for Remember Everyone Deployed) and Sunday, we ask for White Dress shirts. The white shirts you have are perfect for the ride.
If you have any questions, my email is r2rsanderjack@gmail.com or my phone number is 757-575-1395.
Thank you for your support.
God Bless,
